Reflecting on that fateful moment, David recalled, “Within a span of three minutes, she lost all signs of life. We rushed her to the hospital, and after 25 minutes, they managed to revive her. But she had endured a prolonged period without oxygen.”
This event left Bruna with severe, permanent consequences, rendering her unable to perceive her surroundings. Although her fundamental nervous system functions remain intact, Bruna is now trapped in a vegetative state, dependent on continuous care.

Following Bruna’s extended hospitalization, she returned home in June 2019, where David assumed full responsibility for her care. However, his job as a driver could not cover the extensive needs of his wife, including specialized care, medications, and proper nutrition. Despite the help, the costs of Bruna’s care continued to escalate. “We haven’t been able to secure her retirement benefits yet,” David shared. “However, we are fortunate to have the assistance of two volunteer lawyers who are aiding us. At present, we are reliant on donations to sustain ourselves.”

Amidst these challenges, a beacon of hope emerged. Neurologists informed David about a treatment available in Canada that could potentially benefit Bruna. This treatment, involving a three-year course of medication and physiotherapy, costs approximately $19,000.
